Taxi Course

6 lectures, 2.5 hours each (Allows unlimited attendance).
Contents include Taxi Code, Location Questions and Road Users' Code Key points analysis and strategies in the test.

Requirements

aged 21 or above and;

who has completed the one-year probationary driving period for a PC or LGV, he/she will be eligible to apply for a learner's or full driving licence to drive a commercial vehicle immediately upon obtaining a full driving licence for the corresponding vehicle type (i.e. PC or LGV); or
to whom such a probationary driving period for a PC or LGV is not applicable, he/she will be eligible to apply for a learner's or full driving licence to drive a commercial vehicle after having held a full driving licence for a PC or LGV for at least one year.

Note: Applicants for a taxi full driving licence will not be issued with the relevant full driving licence unless they, in addition to passing the relevant driving test, have completed the relevant pre-service course within one year preceding the date of application for the relevant full driving licence.

Measures Implementation Date: 1 October 2020

Pre-service Course (From 1 October 2020, after implementation of the measures, applicants for a taxi full driving licence will not be issued with the relevant full driving licence unless they, in addition to passing the relevant driving test, have completed the relevant pre-service course within one year preceding the date of application for the relevant full driving licence.)
Objective	With a view to enhancing the safety and quality of public transport services, applicants shall attend and complete the relevant pre-service course and obtain the course certificate for the issue of the relevant full driving licence.
Structure	The pre-service courses for taxi drivers will be 16-hour courses, with each covering two parts: the foundation module (eight hours), which will cover basic driver knowledge, and the mode-specific module (eight hours), which is specifically designed the relevant type of commercial vehicles.
